Fairlands Valley Park - Stevenage Borough Council, UK
Fairlands Valley Park is an open park in the city of Stevenage in Hertfordshire county- England. The project was initiated by the Mayor of Stevenage through the office Stevenage Borough council. They wanted to develop the Fairlands Valley Park for better visitors experience and using it as a showcase window for Stevenage District Scouts.
Fairlands Valley Park has around 1 acre of lake surrounded by open ground and forest area which was open to public and utilized by the people for various leisure activities.
The project involved scoping the opportunities for infrastructure development in the park, estimating the growth in visitors, analyzing the outcome and making strategic financial and marketing plans for future management of park. It also included utilizing the park for showcasing and marketing the activities of Scouts of the Stevenage City.
A master plan report was submitted on similar lines to increase the aesthetic value of the lake and the park, adding more leisure activities which can generate income to the park and thus increasing the number of visitors’ footfall.
Following the submission, the council went on to develop the park by introducing outdoor activities in a phased manner.
